The DA takes note of the Industrial Policy Action Plan (IPAP) 2013-2015 released yesterday by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies.
IPAP seeks to stimulate growth in the manufacturing sector through vertical state interventions in the economy. Any sustainable growth in the economy can only be achieved through the establishment of a demand-led, private sector driven economy.
The real test of the Plan is whether it will realize in job creation. The manufacturing sector lost nearly 200 000 jobs in the last three years under the previous versions of IPAP.
Will this new plan succeed in turning the tide?
The DA will hold a press conference next week to present a comprehensive response to IPAP and offer alternatives that we believe will realize inclusive growth in South Africa as prioritized in the National Development Plan (NDP).
